In this significant work, At-Tabari extensively relies on narrations from the Prophet (s), including the interpretations and commentaries of the Companions, particularly those of Ibn Abbas, and the Followers of the Companions, presenting their views with complete chains of transmission (isnad). He also incorporates the opinions of Arabic language scholars, discusses the various modes of Quranic recitation, the context in which revelations occurred, the abrogating and abrogated verses, and the lexical meanings of words, supported by numerous examples from classical Arabic poetry.
